This was Hefner's first live performance to be broadcast live from Maida Vale and it turned out to be a classic. The London band had just released their exellent "We Love The City" album which also featured the vocal talents of Amelia Fletcher and were really starting to turn heads.
I always think that Hefner could have been absolutely huge. The way Darren Haymen writes is just pure genius at times and I would certainly put him up there with some of the great songwriters of our time.
Hefner did another live set for the Peel program on 1st November 2001 which was broadcast live from The Custard Factory in Birmingham as part of the BBC's One Live In Birmingham week. I'll put it on this site at some point in the future.
