Bongwater were the brainchild of New York producer/Shimmy Disc record label owner Mark Kramer. Their first release "Breaking No New Ground EP" in 1987 did exactly what it said on the tin and consisted of six very average cover versions. In 1990 however all thet changed. Kramer recruited New York performance artist Ann Magnuson to be the voice on what was to be one of the best albums of it's time. "The Power Of Pussy" was released on Shimmy Disc in 1990 and it's title describes the content perfectly. If you have never heard this record then you should try and find a copy. Every home needs one.
Bongwater only recorded one session for the Peel program.
