John Peel - 2nd December 1990

One of my favorite shows, largely because it contains two of my favorite sessions. Firstly there is the debut session from Bleach which kicks off with a very cute jingle recorded for the show, and then we have The Paris Angels from Manchester who were at the peak of their powers in 1990 and nothing demonstrates that better than this session with it's storming version of "Scope" which had been issued as a single earlier in the year.

Also in the program music by -

Main Source, The Three Johns, Cocoa T. The Walk-In's, The Fall, Eskimo's And Egypt, Nirvana, Little Cesar And The Romans, Gallon Drunk, Lakim Shabazz, Rancid Hellspawn, Gene Vincent, Deep Sea, Datblygu, Nexus 21, Phil Flowers, 70 Gwen Party, Fishmonkeyman, First Offence, The Pain Teens, Jody Reynolds, The Jack Officers, Coo Coo Rocking Time, Paris

John Peel - 6th July 1988

I'm almost sure this is the correct date for this program but my copy of Ken Garner's bible has gone walkabout. Undoubtedly the date will turn out to be incorrect and I'm sure at least one of you will point out what it should have been.

Part 1

Part 2

Featuring sessions from The Jesus And Mary Chain and The Pooh Sticks along with some pretty snazzy tunes from the likes of

Inspiral Carpets, Stetsasonic, The Hollywood Persuaders, Joy Division, Visions Of Change, Robert Lloyd And The New Four Seasons, No For An Answer, Llwybr Llaethog, Lynn Tate And The Jets, Dan, The Final Cut, Another Sunny Day, Singers And Players, The Beguiled, Public Enemy, Courtney Melody, Prince, Perfect Days, Treacherous Jaywalkers , The Jailcell Recipies

John Peel - 10th July 1994

For some reason this program seems to run fractionally too fast. Not enough to spoil your enjoyment but nevertheless it does. I would correct it but I have neither the ability or the software to execute such a technical task, but like I say it's hardly noticeable. What you will notice on this program however is the fact that is is broadcast from the Scottish City of Glasgow. I think it was something to do with their Sound City 94 celebrations. I had some recordings from that event but the mists of time seem to have hidden them somewhere.
In this program you will be able to enjoy session tracks from the likes of AC Acoustics and The Nectarine No.9 alongside records by,
Re-Mark, Dancing French Liberals Of 48, Ash, Sapiano, Ricky General, Shorty, Morph, Citrus, Sounds Of Life, Jimmy Liggins, Autechre, Supergrass, The Avantes and Hardtrance.

John Peel, 31st March 1991

This appears to be the second half of the show featuring session tracks from Curve and Force Fed.

Download Zip File

The Show also features tracks from Moose, Shabba Ranks, De La Soul, Sun Carriage, Strange Parcels, Active Minds, Ned's Atomic Dustbin, Admiral Tibet, AW1 & David R.B., Poe, Strawbwrry Story, Feverfew, Etta James, Levellers Five, Mann and some Romanian track which despite being pretty good sounds quite undecipherable to my poor ears.

Three tracks are played from a German compilation cassette entitled "Mind The Gap" which I feel ashamed not to have a copy of so if any of you do a digital copy would be most appreciated.

I don't have a recording of the first half of this show. Please let me know if you do.

The Delgados - Live 13th May 1995

A fine live set from the Glasgow band who released five albums between 1996 and 2004. All were released on the bands own Chemikal Underground label which also played home to several other notable artists including Mogwai whose debut album "Young Team" was pretty stunning.
This set was recorded for the John Peel program in 1995 when the band were just about to unleash a series of superb singles upon us.
